Bolero Engine Specifications

Positives:

The mHawk75 is a 1,493cc, three-cylinder diesel engine that gets four valves per cylinder and makes 75bhp and 210Nm.

This engine gets a five-speed manual gearbox and Mahindra’s micro-hybrid technology (engine start/stop).

The Bolero is available with power steering to reduce the effort required to steer this vehicle.

The suspension setup includes coil springs at the front and leaf springs at the rear to carry loads on any road.

The Bolero has disc brakes at the front, drums at the rear, and a 60-litre diesel tank.

It has a robust ladder-frame chassis.

Negatives:

The power delivery from the Bolero’s engine is not exciting but is highly tractable.

Slotting the gears quite far apart is inconvenient due to the rubbery shift action.

The ride quality is not flat, as there’s lots of vertical motion on anything less than perfectly paved roads.

The slow steering feedback, slim tires, and leaf suspensions offer utilitarian handling.

Bolero Safety

Positives:

  • The Bolero has dual front airbags and a driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder.
  • It is offered with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
  • Mahindra claims the metal bumpers comply with the regulatory pedestrian protection norms.
  • This utility vehicle gets reverse parking sensors.

Negatives:

  • The Mahindra Bolero does not get ESP or other modern safety equipment like ADAS functionality.
  • It has not received safety ratings as the NCAP authorities have not yet tested it.
